Metamorphosis manga book3/24/2024 ![]() ![]() I think it’s interesting that the author made note that when choosing the official English title for this manga, Metamorphosis was selected because the author was inspired by Kafka and his existentialist classic, The Metamorphosis. Despite that, there is value to the horrors that Saki experiences because there are pieces that ring true to actual victims of abuse. Not to mention, literally, every other person in this story is despicable and one abuse after the next is layered on with every interaction that she has with others. It takes a certain suspension of belief for one to assume that an individual at every step will make self-destructive choices, whether or not it is out of desperation or a genuine self-loathing. I’ve seen a few people describe the story as realistic and taken as a whole it’s far from it. Now this story is still hentai, and so naturally it has its limits and the amount of graphic content is going to be excessive. At its core, Metamorphosis tackles the tragedy of teenagers or really anyone suffering from abuse or addiction that fall between the cracks. She falls further and further into a life that she doesn’t want as she loses the support of the people around her. Saki’s loss of innocence at the hands of the people around her causes her to lose her identity and she descends gradually to the darkest places imaginable. Saki is a naive young girl that just wants to fit in and finds herself drawn into a world of drugs, sex addiction, and prostitution. It is the classic story of the messy path to adulthood in a vile, modern society and it is told in an oppressive grimdark style. Henshin, otherwise known as Emergence is the story of a nerdy young girl’s high school debut going horribly, terribly wrong, and that’s a generous way to put it. In this first volume, Tsurutani has proven herself an adept storyteller and a fascinating new voice.Metamorphosis is one of the most notorious hentai manga out there and for a while, it seems like everyone was talking about it, and for good reason. “ BL Metamorphosis is an earnest and heartfelt examination of intergenerational relationships, the deepening of self-conviction, and the development of community. What is life for, if we’re going to stay the person we were as a child all our lives?” -Erica Friedman, Okazu And for that, I think it’s absolutely worth reading. “ BL Metamorphosis is a sweet story about finding friendship in BL fandom, but it’s also about pushing yourself out of the limitations you create for yourself. "This is a tranquil story, an unlikely occurrence embedded in the monotony of everyday life, an homage to those rare relationships that help us grow in unexpected ways." -Morgana Santilli, The Beat The deep-seated empathy that its creator so clearly has for both characters is the key to what makes BL Metamorphosis so special, and it shines through on every page." -Hannah Collins, CBR 1 is one of the most affectionate and authentic portraits of the BL community that you will ever read. ![]() "Without an ounce of parody or insincerity, Kaori Tsurutani's BL Metamorphosis, Vol. Reminiscent of Princess Jellyfish, this female-centric view of a subgenre usually known for its steamier aspects offers an unusual and endearing twist to manga’s expected pairings." - Publishers Weekly ".a refreshing intergenerational friendship tale in which one’s gender isn’t a restriction when it comes to being a fan of media about romantic relationships between men. ![]()
